Stolin

Stolin - is a small town of Brest region of Belarus, an administrative center of Stolin district. Of the remaining, major architectural landmarks of the city Stolin are: firstly, the wooden Orthodox church of the Ascension, originally built in 1938; and secondly, the ruins of the synagogue built in 1793. The Church is in good condition, but the ruins of the synagogue continued to deteriorate. Church and synagogue in Stolin are architectural monuments, cultural and historical values and attractions of Belarus.

Earlier in Stolin there was also a small Catholic church and a gorgeous palace and park ensemble (see black and white photo below). This palace and park ensemble belonged Radziwills and located very close to the town of Stolin in the nearby village Mankavichy. At present the territory of this village and the palace and park ensemble is fully became part of the city Stolin. Unfortunately, the central building of the complex - the stunning Palace (built in 1905), at the moment nothing left. He was finally destroyed during the Second World War. From the palace and park complex in the town of Stolin currently preserved only a few of the former farm buildings. Some of these buildings have been substantially rebuilt for housing and now merged with the rest of the buildings of the city of Stolin. But among the remaining farm buildings and completely untouched, and they look at the standards of buildings of this type it is very interesting and unusual.

But the main object of the numbers previously assigned to the palace and park ensemble in the town of Stolin and surviving, perhaps need to recognize the park, which is now called: Park "Mankavichy", by the name of the village to which he had previously and treated. This park was built in 1885. The park is about 30 hectares. At the center of this park before and was located the palace. Around the palace there was an earth mound with flowers and ornamental shrubs. A lot of different rare, exotic and ornamental plants and now grows in this park. Park "Mankavichy" declared a natural monument of national significance and protected by the state.

In the central part of the city, these buildings form several quarters of very picturesque urban development. Historic city construction of town Stolin stands out among similar architectural ensembles in most other cities of Belarus for its good condition and high density, so it can be very interesting to tourists and travelers in Belarus. Separately, it should be mentioned that in the historical buildings of the city Stolin survived this type of building as the old shopping arcade. Similar facilities although there are in Belarus, but not very often. In the town of Stolin has all the necessary infrastructure elements for tourists, although tourism in this area is still not developed.
