Myadzyel - is a very small town in the Minsk region of Belarus, but it is the administrative center of Myadzyel district. The city of Myadzyel is a very attractive destination for tourists and travelers in Belarus. However, for the most part, this attraction is not based on architectural and cultural attractions, but on the beauty of the local nature. The fact is that the city of Myadzyel is very picturesquely located between two large lakes: Miastra and Batoryna, which are separated by a one-kilometer strip of land (on this strip, in part, the city of Myadzyel is located). Moreover, an even narrower strip of land (about 500 meters) separates lake Miastra from lake Narach - the largest lake in Belarus. As a result, the city of Myadzyel is located in one of the most popular zones for active or sanatorium recreation in Belarus, at a distance of only a few kilometers from lake Narach.
Nevertheless, in the city of Myadzyel there is still one important architectural landmark, and those tourists who came to the Myadzyel for the sake of rest on the lakes can be very interesting to get acquainted with it. It's about the Catholic church of Scapular Mother of God. This temple was built in the city of Myadzyel in 1754. The church in the town of Myadzyel has a very unique, unusual and memorable appearance. Originally this temple was part of the monastery of the Carmelites, which was founded here simultaneously with the erection of the temple, in 1754. Shortly after the suppression of the uprising of 1830, namely in 1832, the Carmelite monastery in the town of Myadzyel was abolished. In 1834 a Uniate women's monastery was moved here from Minsk. After the liquidation of the union in 1839, the monastery became Orthodox.
In 1921, Myadzyel was part of the interwar Poland. The monastery and the temple were returned to the Catholic Church and the Order of the Carmelites. After that, the church in the town of Myadzyel together with the monastery functioned until the end of World War II. Then in the second half of the 1940s the church and monastery were closed. The building of the temple during the Soviet era was used as a warehouse for equipment. In 1989 the church was again returned to the Catholic Church in an extremely neglected state. After that, the Carmelites returned here and a long period of restoration of the temple and monastery began. To date, the church in the town of Myadzyel is already in excellent, fully restored condition. However, some works are still going on in the territory adjacent to the temple. The monastery also functions, but so far it is not very active: the monks simply live here in accordance with their charter and perform the role of ordinary parish priests.
Next to the church in the town of Myadzyel there is also an ancient monastic building of the 18th century and a small stone bell tower erected in the 1920s. The monastic building of the 18th century is well preserved, but nowadays it is used as a farm building. The matter is that recently one more modern monastic corps was built next to the church, where monks live now, and also the parish administration is located. The bell tower is in excellent condition. It was completely restored together with the church in the 1990s. The architectural ensemble of the monastery in the town of Myadzyel, headed by the church of Scapular Mother of God, is an important architectural monument of the 18th century and a very interesting landmark of Belarus.
Among other attractions of the city of Myadzyel you can also highlight the modern Orthodox church of the Holy Trinity. This church was erected in the city of Myadzyel already in the post-Soviet period. It should also be noted that in the town of Myadzyel there are all the basic and tourist infrastructure facilities necessary for tourists. In addition to various stores, ATMs, gas stations, post offices and banks, there are also restaurants, cafes and hotels. In addition, there are many places for organized recreation near the water. Otherwise it could not be, because, as already mentioned, the city of Myadzyel attracts tourists mainly with the beauty of the local nature with large and picturesque lakes.
