Zasvir - is a village of Myadzyel district, Minsk region of Belarus. The main attraction of the village of Zasvir is the Catholic church of the Holy Trinity. Originally, this temple was erected in the distant 1714, and was part of the Catholic Carmelite monastery, founded even earlier - in 1697. The church in the village of Zasvir has a very monumental and memorable appearance. Near the church there are ruins of the monastery buildings, which were also built in the early 18th century. In addition, on the territory of the church you can meet a small brama (gate, the rest of the fence is not preserved) and the same small chapel.

Not far from the church in the village of Zasvir is a remarkable wooden building, which looks like a plebania, but in fact it served as a club and a cinema, and it was built only in the 1930s. The church in the village of Zasvir is very picturesque. On the one side there is a pine forest adjacent to it, behind a small strip of which is a beautiful lake Svir. Well, the church itself is located in the middle of an old park. In the village of Zasvir, the beauty of nature and architecture is simply amazingly combined.

Briefly describe the history of the church and monastery in the village of Zasvir. So, initially after the foundation of the monastery in 1697, its buildings and church were wooden. However, just a few years later, the construction of a stone church was started, which was completed in 1714. At the same time, stone monastery buildings were built. Then, after the suppression of the uprising of 1830 (during which the monks helped the rebels as much as possible), the Carmelite monastery in the village of Zasvir, along with many other Catholic monasteries in the territory of modern Belarus, was closed by the tsarist authorities, and the church became an ordinary parish.

Later, after the suppression of the uprising in 1863, the church was closed, and the building of the church was handed over to the Orthodox Church. Further, during the First World War, the German hospital was located in the buildings of the former monastery. At the same time near the monastery buried dead German soldiers (more on this below). And after the First World War, when the village of Zasvir was part of the interwar Poland, the building of the local church was returned to the Catholic Church. After that, the first priest who served in the village of Zasvir became the poet and public figure Konstantin Stapowicz, better known under the pseudonym Kazimir Swajak. He conducted service in the Belarusian language (at that time it was absolutely unique phenomenon), collected local folklore and wrote poetry.

Further, after the Second World War, the former buildings of the monastery housed a school and a hostel, and the church was closed. Then, gradually the whole complex was abandoned and slowly destroyed. However, in 1990 the building of the temple was again returned to the Catholic Church, after which it was completely restored. By this time, from the former monastic buildings only ruins have been preserved, and no one has ever restored them. Today, the church in the village of Zasvir is an active parish Catholic church. It is in good condition, both inside and outside. Undoubtedly, the church in the village of Zasvir is a very important architectural monument and interesting sight of Belarus.

As already mentioned, during the First World War in the buildings of the monastery in the village of Zasvir there was a German military hospital. At the same time the dead soldiers were buried right behind the church. To date, this burial place of German soldiers during the First World War is maintained in a neat and well-maintained condition. In the center of the territory where the burials were made, there is a small monument in the form of three crosses.

In addition, it is very noteworthy that the burial was carried out on the territory of an ancient village of the early feudal era. Apparently the church and monastic buildings in general are also located on the territory of this ancient village, at least in part. Summing up, it should be noted that the village of Zasvir can be very interesting for tourists and travelers in Belarus. Here there is a beautiful atmosphere, and the amazing beauty of nature adjoins with valuable architectural monuments with a rich history.
