The Maksim Gorky Central Children's Park in Minsk - is one of the many parks in the capital of Belarus, located in the very center of the city, near Victory Square, along the banks of the Svislach River. Today, this park in Minsk covers an area of ​​28 hectares. The history of this Minsk park began in 1805. It was then that this park was founded by the first Minsk governor - Zakhar Korneev. Today in the park there is a small monument dedicated to its founder. In the beginning of the 19th century this park was called the "Gubernatorial Garden", later it was renamed simply "City Park". The park was the first specially arranged public place of rest of this kind in Belarus.

At the time of its foundation, the area of ​​the central Minsk park was 18 hectares. In the early 19th century the park was a very picturesque place. Here along the beautiful avenues in the shade of the trees there were benches, on which peoples could calmly rest. Later, at the end of the 19th century, a lot of objects appeared in the park for active recreation, for example: playgrounds for various sports, bicycle rental and attractions. There were also various children's holidays and gymnastic classes. After 1917 the central park in Minsk was first named "Profintern", and in 1936 it was renamed to "Maksim Gorky Park".

During the Second World War, residential quarters near the central park in Minsk were destroyed, and it became possible to expand the park's territory. Among the missing neighborhoods was a house where in 1927-1941 the Belarusian national writer Yakub Kolas lived. Today, this place is a one-story brick building of the park administration, with a memorial tablet that on this place stood the house where the great poet lived. In 1960 the park finally becomes a children's park and after it its current name is fixed: "Maksim Gorky Central Children's Park". The park was systematically developing in the post-war period and as a result, there are many different objects in this central Minsk park, for example: stadium, ice palace, sports pavilion, sports grounds, various children's attractions, a planetarium, several monuments, several cafes and some others objects. The pride of the central park in Minsk is the "Ferris wheel", 54 meters high, with the help of which Minsk citizens and guests of the capital can view the city from a height.
