Minsk City Zoo - is one of the largest zoos in Belarus (according to some characteristics it is second only to the zoo in Grodno, according to other characteristics it is the leader). Minsk Zoo is the most visited zoo in the country. More than a million people visit the Minsk Zoo annually. The zoo is located in the southeastern part of Minsk near the Svisloch River. In addition to the classic enclosures, the Minsk Zoo includes a terrarium, a dolphinarium, an aquarium and a pavilion of the fauna of South America. The collection of the zoo includes not only animals typical for Belarus, but also rare representatives of the fauna of Belarus, as well as many exotic animals from all over the world. In total, the Minsk Zoo contains about five hundred species of animals, including about two hundred listed in the Red Book.
The Minsk Zoo was opened in 1984 as the Zoo and Botanical Garden of the Minsk Automobile Plant. Since then, the collection of animals of the Minsk Zoo has been constantly expanding, and the zoo itself has systematically developed. In 1997, the Minsk Zoo received the status of a separate state enterprise. The Minsk Zoo continues to actively expand its exposition today. The Minsk Zoo is an important tourist sight and attraction in the city of Minsk. Numerous tourists from all over Belarus and other countries visit it with pleasure. A visit to the Minsk Zoo leaves a lot of positive impressions for travelers, but the zoo is especially delightful for children. The fact is that many pavilions, exhibition halls and aviaries in the Minsk Zoo are very richly decorated, which allows tourists to plunge deeper into the atmosphere of what is happening and experience especially strong and positive emotions.
