Baruny - is a village of Ashmyany district, Grodno region of Belarus. The main attraction of the village Baruny is Catholic church of Saints Peter and Paul, which was built back in 1757. This church is a striking embodiment of the architecture of so-called "Vilna" baroque. This unique temple is located in the center of the village. Initially, the church in the village Baruny was built at Uniate Basilian monastery, which in turn was based here in the early 18th century.
The church in the village Baruny has a relatively large size, it is a three-nave two-tower basilica with a semicircular apse. A number of more unusual architectural solutions gives its external appearance a peculiar softness and beauty. The architecture of the church is no symmetry, so characteristic for the iconic building. Therefore the church of Saints Peter and Paul in the village Baruny permanently deposited in the memory of tourists who have visited it. In addition, it should be mentioned that in the church of Saints Peter and Paul in the village Baruny kept the Miraculous icon of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted (the Baruny Mother of God). This icon is created in the 17th century, at the moment is one of the widely revered Catholic shrines of Belarus.
The church in the village Baruny currently completely restored and is an architectural monument of the mid-18th century, the historical and cultural value and an important landmark of Belarus. These bell tower and chapel were the same as the church built in the middle of the 18th century.
As already mentioned, the original church in the village Baruny was erected at the monastery. Today, behind the church remained the main monastery building, which was built in 1793. This building is also undoubtedly a historic landmark. Unfortunately, the monastery building has not yet been fully restored and are not used. Its restoration is also not conducted. Thus, in our time in the village Baruny monastery is not functioning, only the church to open for faithful.
