Milkaushchyna

Milkaushchyna - is a village of Grodno district, Grodno region of Belarus. The main attraction of the village Milkaushchyna is the Orthodox church, which was built in 1904 and is now a monument of architecture of the early XX century. In the Soviet times, like many other churches and cathedrals, church in the village Milkaushchyna used by economic needs. At the turn of the century the church was completely restored, and now it is in excellent condition and functioning.

Village Milkaushchyna may be of interest to tourists and for another reason. The fact that in this village was once the estate (to this day has not been preserved), where was born and raised Eliza Orzeszkowa (1841-1910) - famous writer, publicist, who lived most of his life in Belarus. Until 1852 Eliza Orzeszkowa lived in the manor of parents and went to school here in Warsaw. Fate brought her back to the village Milkaushchyna after the uprising of 1863-1864, in which she took an active part. Now the village school Milkaushchyna operates a small museum dedicated to Eliza Orzeszkowa. And from the house where she was born and grew up only fragments of the park.
