Višnieva - is a village of Smarhon district, Grodno region of Belarus. The main attraction of the village Višnieva is the Catholic church of Saint Thaddaeus. This stone temple was built from 1811 to 1820. The architectural style of the church is classicism. As a result of the defeat of the national liberation uprising of 1863-64, in 1866 the temple in the village of Višnieva was transferred to the Orthodox Church and slightly rebuilt. It was then that a small baroque tower appeared over the central altar of the temple. During the First World War, the temple in the village of Višnieva was significantly damaged. In 1919, the temple was returned to the Catholic Church. In the interwar period, the village of Višnieva was part of Poland. However, the restoration of the church ended only in 1935.
After the Second World War, the village of Višnieva became part of the BSSR. However, the Catholic church of Saint Thaddaeus was not closed. Moreover, in the 1970s, the church in the village of Višnieva received the status of an architectural monument. Today this church remains active. Next to the church in the village of Višnieva there is a two-tier hipped-roof bell tower. This bell tower, like the Catholic church, was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The lower tier of the bell tower is made of natural stone. The Church of Saint Thaddaeus in the village of Višnieva is currently in very good condition and is an architectural monument of the early 19th century, historical and cultural value and an interesting attraction of Belarus. The temple is very nicely located on a small hill.
In addition to the Catholic church in the village of Višnieva, there is another small attraction. We are talking about the Orthodox church of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk. This temple was built in our time, in 2001. The Orthodox church is located opposite the Catholic church, across the road. Both temples together form a very typical architectural ensemble for Belarus. In many Belarusian villages and towns you can find nearby Orthodox and Catholic churches. It should also be noted that the village of Višnieva is located in very picturesque places, on the shores of the large Lake Višnieva. In addition, very close to this village there is one of the most famous lakes in Belarus - Lake Svir.
