Victory Square in Minsk - is a memorable place in honor of the immortal feat of the people during the Great Patriotic War. Victory Square is located in the very center of Minsk, on its main avenue. The central place in the architectural ensemble of Victory Square is the Monument or Obelisk of Victory. This monument was built in 1954 in honor of soldiers of the Soviet army and partisans of Belarus who died in the battles for the liberation of Belarus. The height of the obelisk is about 40 meters. The monument is faced with a gray granite and is completed with the image of the Order of Victory. On the four sides of the pedestal there are bronze high reliefs, which are called: "May 9, 1945", "Glory to the lost heroes", "The Soviet Army during the Great Patriotic War", "Partisans of Belarus".

As a symbol of victory, at the base of the obelisk lies the sword, and on four sides from the monument there are huge bronze wreaths. In 1961, at the foot of the monument, the Eternal Flame was lit. In 1984-85 on the Victory Square were installed pedestals with capsules with the land of hero cities. Also in 1985 in honor of the 40th anniversary of Victory in the underground passage on Victory Square a round Memorial Hall was opened in honor of the Heroes of the Soviet Union who died for the liberation of Belarus. Under the Victory Square, the Moscow line of Minsk metro passes, and on the square itself there is an entrance to the metro station of the same name. Victory Square is surrounded by buildings erected in the 1950s.

All these buildings are made in a single architectural style and form a very harmonious and very memorable ensemble. The end part of the square is closed by the House-museum of the First Congress of the RSDLP, the bridge over the Svislach River and the monumental gates that adorn the entrance to the Central Children's Park. To date, Victory Square is one of the most recognizable symbols not only of Minsk, but of all Belarus. Victory Square in Minsk is also a very important memorial site, where many events dedicated to the memory of the Great Patriotic War take place. Very many Minsk citizens and guests of the capital of Belarus come here to pay tribute to the memory of millions of people who died during the Second World War.
