Dziarechyn - is a village of Zel’va district, Grodno region of Belarus. The main attractions of the village Dziarechyn are two churches: the Transfiguration Orthodox church, built in 1865, and the Catholic church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in 1913. It is the Gothic building of the Catholic church that attracts most tourists and travelers around Belarus to the village of Dziarechyn. Indeed, this church has a very interesting and memorable appearance, although it is not very large. The Catholic church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the village of Dziarechyn was built of red brick from 1906 to 1913, not far from the place where the monastery and the old stone church of the 17th century were located earlier, which were closed and destroyed in the middle of the 19th century. The building of the new church in the village Dziarechyn executed in neo-gothic style.
In the fall of 1951, a Catholic church in the village of Dziarechyn was closed by the Soviet authorities. For some time the building of the temple was used as a warehouse, then the church stood in desolation and slowly collapsed. In the early 1990s, the church was returned to believers. The church in the village of Dziarechyn was completely restored and re-consecrated in 1993. The territory around the church is surrounded by a stone wall. Next to the church in the village of Dziarechyn there is also a plebania building (parish administration), which was erected at the beginning of the 20th century, but it still functions in its original purpose today. The interior of the church in the village Dziarechyn quite modest. But the exterior of the temple, although it is somewhat restrained, nevertheless is striking in its elegance, grandeur and beauty of the Gothic forms. The Catholic church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the village Dziarechyn is a bright landmark of Belarus.
As already mentioned, another very important architectural landmark of the village of Dziarechyn is the Transfiguration Orthodox church. This temple was built from 1854 to 1865. The Orthodox church in the village of Dziarechyn also has a somewhat non-standard and highly memorable appearance. This majestic and large enough temple was built in the Byzantine style with five wooden domes. The church in the village of Dziarechyn is remarkable not only for its size and interesting architecture, but also for its amazing wall paintings. The altar and domed parts of the temple are decorated with beautiful images of saints and biblical scenes.
The Orthodox church in the village of Dziarechyn was not closed during the Soviet era. Despite certain obstacles and difficulties, the temple continued to function fully. However, by the end of the 20th century, the church in the village of Dziarechyn was in dire need of restoration. In 2004, the Transfiguration Orthodox church in the village of Dziarechyn was included in the state list of historical and cultural values. In the 2010s, the temple was completely restored and today is in excellent condition. So, both temples in the village of Dziarechyn, of course, are important architectural monuments, historical and cultural values and interesting sights of Belarus.
The village Dziarechyn also has a 19th century former mill building. The building of this mill is now in good condition and is used for economic needs. It is also worth noting that only recently (in the first half of the 20th century) in the village Dziarechyn was a large and magnificent palace and park ensemble. However, at the moment it is completely destroyed, leaving only the photos and sketches...
