Zhamyslaul - is a village of Iwye district, Grodno region of Belarus. Village Zhamyslaul located in the border area. The main attraction of the village Zhamyslaul is a palace and park complex, built in the mid 19th century. The palace and park ensemble in the village of Zhamyslaul is an important Belarusian landmark, an architectural monument and a cultural and historical value. The central building of the complex is one of the most beautiful palaces on the territory of modern Belarus. This palace was built in the classical style in the image and likeness of the Łazienki Royal Palace in Warsaw. The palace in the village of Zhamyslaul was built long enough, for several decades and was completed in 1877. The palace is very picturesquely located on the high bank of the reservoir.
The functional purpose of the palace in the village of Zhamyslaul often changed. Originally it was built as a residence of a noble family. During the First World War, a sanatorium for wounded German soldiers and officers was functioning here. It was organized in 1915, when the village of Zhamyslaul was under German occupation. According to various sources, either at the end of the 19th century, or immediately after the end of the First World War, or only in 1930, the whole estate was transferred to the scientific and practical base of the University of Vilna. The palace in the village of Zhamyslaul safely survived both world wars.
During the Soviet era, the palace housed the board of a local agricultural enterprise, local executive authorities, a club, a library and even a liaison office. The palace in the village of Zhamyslaul is empty since 2006. The main damage to the building was caused by a fire that occurred in the palace in 2012. Now the building is in emergency condition and completely closed to visit. Nevertheless, the condition of the palace in the village of Zhamyslaul is still quite strong. There are plans for a complete restoration of the palace and the placement of the hotel and restaurant here. It is planned to turn this place into a popular tourist site. Unfortunately, so far the implementation of these plans has not started.
Once the palace in the village of Zhamyslaul was surrounded by a beautiful landscape park with an artificial reservoir formed on a local river with the help of a dam. The park was laid in 1883. To the palace and park complex in the village of Zhamyslaul belonged a lot of economic and other minor buildings. At the moment the park is almost not preserved, but water bodies and most of the minor and economic buildings have survived to the present day. Up until today, you can see a lot of buildings that used to be part of the palace and park ensemble in the village of Zhamyslaul.
For example: two side buildings, built in 1828 (one of them was later rebuilt); barn and warehouse, also built in 1828; a huge distillery and alcohol store, built here in 1885; a lot of other farm buildings built in the late 19th century. The side buildings, the barn and the warehouse, like the palace, need restoration, but for the time being they are in an abandoned, but still very strong state. Distillery and many other outbuildings today are still used by the local enterprise for economic purposes and are in a suitable condition. Some minor buildings that used to belong to the palace and park ensemble in the village of Zhamyslaul are currently used for housing.
Also to the palace and park ensemble in the village of Zhamyslaul is a small roadside chapel with the sculpture of the Virgin Mary, which was built in 1883 when laying a park. This sculpture closes the central park alley from the opposite side of the palace. Not far from this roadside chapel and palace in 2000 was also built a full-fledged Catholic chapel of the King Christ.
Not far from the palace in the village of Zhamyslaul there is also a small operating hydroelectric power station built in 1951 on a local river, instead of an old dam. As a reservoir, the same pond that surrounds the palace and park complex stands out. This artificial pond was slightly expanded, the water level in it was increased, and the flood zone was increased for the needs of the hydroelectric power station. Thus, these places have become even more picturesque. Summing up, we can say that even in the current state the palace and park ensemble in the village of Zhamyslaul is a very interesting landmark of Belarus and an excellent tourist destination for travelers to Belarus. And in the long term this place can become a tourist pearl of all Belarus.
Sketches of Napoleon Orda, Zhamyslaul:
As you can see, the palace in the village of Zhamyslaul, although it is in not very good condition, but it has not changed much since it was captured by the great Belarusian artist, and it seems that the building of the palace is still at the final stage. Apparently at this time, work continued on the interior decoration of the palace in the village of Zhamyslaul, as well as landscaping.
